Professional dryer vent cleaning service based in Edmonds, WA

Dryer vent cleaning is the process of removing lint, debris, and airflow restrictions from the vent that carries hot, moist air from your dryer to the outside of your home. Unlike cleaning the lint trap, professional dryer vent cleaning addresses the full length of the vent system to restore proper airflow.

Most homes benefit from clothes dryer vent cleaning every 1–2 years. Homes with long vent runs, large households, frequent laundry, or pets that shed will need it more often — sometimes annually. If you can’t remember the last time it was done, or you’ve never had it done since moving in, that’s usually a sign it’s overdue. Scheduling a cleaning is the simplest way to reset the clock and establish a routine.

The cost of dryer vent cleaning generally depends on which floor the dryer is on, how long the vent run is, and whether the vent terminates on the roof. Sage charges one flat rate for a standard single-dryer vent, and that rate covers the full inspection, cleaning the entire vent run, before-and-after airflow testing, cleanup of the laundry area, and your photo report. No trip fees, no per-foot charges, and no upsells once we’re on site.

Then you don’t pay. We inspect the vent system before we do anything, and if it doesn’t need cleaning yet, we’ll tell you, show you what we found, and there’s no charge for the visit. This happens more than you’d expect — newer homes, short vent runs, or a vent that was cleaned more recently than the homeowner remembered. We’d rather you call us back in a year than pay for something you didn’t need.

In many cases, yes. Removing lint buildup helps restore proper airflow, which can reduce drying times and allow your dryer to operate more efficiently. Results vary by home, but many customers notice improved performance after cleaning.

Locating the exterior vent is part of the job. It’s usually on an exterior wall near the laundry area, in a crawl space or garage, or on the roof. We’ll find it, inspect the full run, and show you where it is so you know for next time.

Most appointments take between two and three hours, depending on vent length and configuration. We aim to complete the work efficiently while ensuring the entire vent system is properly addressed.

In most cases, yes, since we need access to the dryer and the vent system. We’ll confirm what to expect ahead of time so the appointment goes quickly. If that’s difficult to arrange, give us a call  at (206) 237 4820 — we can usually work something out.

The most common sign is that clothes need more than one cycle to dry. Other signs of a clogged dryer vent:

– The dryer or your clothes feel unusually hot at the end of a cycle
– A burning or musty smell while the dryer runs
– Lint collecting around the dryer or at the exterior vent opening
– The vent flap outside doesn’t open fully when the dryer is running
– It’s been more than two years, or you’ve never had it checked

If you’re seeing any of these, the lint buildup is usually well past the point where a lint trap can help — the blockage is inside the duct.

We clean the entire dryer duct, from behind the dryer all the way to the exterior vent. Most companies clean from the outside opening only. That clears the last few feet and leaves the rest of the run packed with lint — which is the part that’s actually restricting your airflow. We pull the dryer out, clean the full vent run from both ends, and vacuum behind, underneath, and inside the machine while we’re there. It takes longer. It’s also the only version of this service that reliably fixes the problem you called about.

You can and should clean the lint trap after every load, and you can vacuum the few inches of duct directly behind the dryer if you can reach it safely. Beyond that, DIY has real limits. Consumer dryer vent cleaning kits are typically 10–12 feet, while a typical vent run in this area is longer than that and includes bends the brush won’t navigate. Cleaning from the exterior opening alone pushes lint further into the duct as often as it pulls it out. And on roof-terminated vents, the access itself is the hazard. If your vent run is short, straight, and accessible, DIY is reasonable. If it isn’t — or you don’t know which it is — that’s the case for having it inspected.
